WOOD SCHOOL BALI
A Nature-Based, Globally Minded Learning Community
Learning with Purpose. Growing with Connection.
Wood School Bali is a learning community where education extends beyond the classroom. We bring together academic learning, hands-on experience, project-based inquiry, creativity, and connection with the natural world.
Rooted in the principles of Neohumanist Education, we believe learning should develop more than knowledge. It should cultivate curiosity, critical thinking, creativity, compassion, and an understanding of our relationship with others and the world around us.
WE LEARN BY CONNECTING IDEAS WITH EXPERIENCE.
Students investigate, design, build, experiment, grow, create, and reflect. Mathematics, science, language, art, ecology, culture, and design are not always treated as isolated subjects, but as interconnected ways of understanding complex questions.
Gardens become laboratories. Rice fields become ecosystems. Materials become tools for exploration. Real-world challenges become opportunities for inquiry.
Hands-on learning gives knowledge context. Project-based learning gives it purpose.
FROM REAL PROBLEMS TO MEANINGFUL PROJECTS
Wood School is developing interdisciplinary projects around challenges that children can observe, investigate, and help address.
Our areas of exploration include biodiversity and ecosystem restoration; air, water, and soil health; regenerative food systems; environmental monitoring; appropriate technology; sustainable architecture and materials; circular design; and community-based problem-solving.
We believe children should not only learn *about* the world, but develop the ability to engage with its challenges.
ROOTED IN BALI. CONNECTED TO THE WORLD.
Our international community learns within the rich cultural and ecological context of Bali. We believe global awareness begins by paying attention to what is close, our communities, environments, traditions, and the systems that sustain us.
BUILDING THE NEXT STAGE
As our Middle and Upper Years programmes grow, Wood School is becoming a meeting place for educators, scientists, designers, engineers, researchers, environmental practitioners, and project leaders.
We welcome people who can transform specialist knowledge into meaningful learning experiences, people prepared to investigate alongside children, cross traditional subject boundaries, and develop projects with measurable educational, environmental, or community value.
Opportunities for collaboration include interdisciplinary curriculum development, field research, environmental initiatives, educational technology, scientific monitoring, graduate projects, internships, practitioner residencies, mentorship, workshops, and long-term partnerships.
A PLACE TO THINK, MAKE, QUESTION, AND CONTRIBUTE.
Wood School Bali is not simply preparing students for the next stage of education. We are building a learning culture where young people and educators can think independently, collaborate across disciplines, approach problems creatively, and turn knowledge into meaningful action.
We believe the future of education requires more than teachers delivering a predetermined curriculum.
It requires curious people willing to investigate, experiment, collaborate, and imagine better possibilities.
Wood School Bali is a place not simply to follow an educational system, but to participate in building one.
